First of all — huge congratulations! What an exciting (and slightly surreal) time this is. Whether your baby has just arrived or you’re eagerly counting down the days, I’m so glad you’re here and thinking about capturing those first, fleeting moments.
Newborn sessions are some of my absolute favourites to photograph — there’s something so special about those tiny details, the way they curl up in your arms, and the quiet, sleepy stillness of those early days.
As a mum of two myself, I completely understand how overwhelming those first weeks can feel — the lack of sleep, the endless feeds, and that beautiful blur of emotions. So when parents step into my studio, I want them to instantly feel at ease. You don’t need to worry about a thing — just show up, take a breath, and let me take care of the rest.
My aim is always to make your session as calm, relaxed, and stress-free as possible — so here’s a little guide to help you prepare.
Timing Is Everything
The ideal time to photograph your baby is between 5–10 days old, when they’re still super sleepy and settled. That said, every baby is different — so please don’t worry if we fall slightly outside that window!
Photographing your little one a bit later is just as special — it simply means your gallery will have a slightly different feel. Instead of those curled-up, sleepy poses, you can expect bright eyes, little smiles, and all those beautiful yawns and stretches that show off their growing personality.
My sessions are completely baby-led, meaning we go at their pace and take plenty of breaks for feeding, cuddles, and nappy changes.
Where the Magic Happens

Most of my newborn sessions take place in my cosy home studio — a calm, welcoming space designed with comfort (and warmth!) in mind. Everything you might need is already here: soft wraps, blankets, and a carefully curated newborn wardrobe filled with beautiful, neutral pieces that photograph perfectly.
If you’d prefer me to come to you, I also offer the option to have your newborn session in your own home for an additional £35. I’ll bring along everything we need — so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy those newborn snuggles without worrying about a thing.
What to Wear
For parents and siblings, I always recommend soft, neutral tones — creams, whites, beiges, and muted pastels. They photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on connection and emotion. Avoid bold logos or busy patterns if you can, and keep things simple and comfortable.

If you’re using pieces from my client wardrobe, I’ll have everything freshly washed and ready for you on the day.
What to Expect During Your Session
My newborn sessions are slow-paced and completely baby-led. There’s no rush, no stiff posing, and definitely no pressure — just gentle guidance to capture those natural, heartwarming moments that truly reflect your family.
Expect plenty of cuddles, quiet moments, and maybe even a nap (for baby, not you — although you’re more than welcome to have one too!).
A Few Handy Tips
- Feed your baby just before the session if possible — a full tummy usually means a happy, sleepy baby.
- Bring any special items you might like to include — a blanket, toy, or sentimental piece.
- Don’t stress about the little things. Babies cry, they feed, they wriggle — it’s all completely normal, and we work around it naturally.
And Finally…
As a mum, I know just how quickly this stage passes — one minute they’re curled up on your chest, and the next they’re smiling back at you. These moments are gone in a flash, and that’s exactly why I do what I do.
This session is about you and your baby — capturing this beautiful, fleeting chapter exactly as it is. Whether it’s your first little one or your fifth, I promise to create a calm, nurturing space where you can just breathe, snuggle, and soak it all in.
If you have any questions at all before your session, please don’t hesitate to ask — I’m always here to help and make sure you feel totally prepared
